Murdoch University has, from its foundation in 1974, been a university of difference. Established as the second university in WA, Murdoch has always been associated with environment and conservation, social justice and inclusion, and providing pathways into and through a university education for people who had previously been excluded.
The university’s admissions process relied on a PDF-based eligibility form, requiring manual review by staff to determine whether prospective students met the entry requirements.
This process was time-consuming, inefficient, and lacked instant feedback, leading to delays and increased workload for the admissions team. To improve efficiency and enhance the applicant experience, the university needed a digital solution that could automate eligibility assessments while allowing flexibility for future adjustments.
ProcessPath came on board with an approach rooted in collaboration and human-centric design.
We worked with the university’s team to implement a Microsoft Power Platform solution. Built using Power Pages, this solution digitised and streamlined the eligibility assessment process, replacing the manual, PDF-based system.
The new system features multiple-choice questions with dynamic branching logic, guiding students through the assessment and instantly generating a successful or unsuccessful outcome for immediate feedback.
By paying close attention to both the student experience and staff experience, we were able to arrive at a solution that could optimally serve all user groups.
By eliminating manual eligibility reviews, the system reduced staff workload while providing instant feedback to prospective students. It improved accuracy through standardised assessments and ensured future adaptability by allowing admissions staff to update score weightings as requirements evolve.
