Agile Delivery

A case study with Murdoch University

An agile delivery journey with Murdoch University

Murdoch University established their Integration Competency Centre (ICC) in 2019 and adopted an agile delivery approach to ensure it delivered value early and often. A cross-functional, co-located scrum delivery team was formed, with JourneyOne providing the Journey Lead and Scrum Master capabilities.

Employing the values, ceremonies and principles of the Scrum framework was challenging at the start. However, with constant team coaching based on a number of other agile delivery implementations and backed by our learnings and insights, JourneyOne was able to guide the team through the initial, agile learning curve.

The team quickly found its rhythm and started delivering value to the university’s business units. In a few months, the ICC was able to unravel years of point-to-point integrations and create enterprise-level services for the university’s core systems, such as student and learning systems.

I’ve been very impressed by what the ICC has managed to deliver with the Microsoft Azure Integration stack in only nine months. We’ve clearly established the right architectural framework to deliver with pace, and I look forward to lifting this capability again during 2020. Our new, reusable enterprise integration services are facilitating Murdoch’s move to the cloud and many other significant platform changes. — Russell Bailey, Chief Enterprise Architect, Murdoch University

It now has a well-established service catalogue and has served over 30 million requests to more than 25,000 consumers through a newly created platform.
